live act Daniel Vernuft has been one of the leading producers
in the trance scene for many years. His music has meticulous layers of
detail down to the microscopic level-colorful pools of liquid sound.
Ranging from melodic to minimal, a Shiva Chandra set is an exploration
into deep sonic realms. With four full albums out on SpiritZone as Shiva
Chandra, Daniel is now also working on several side projects: AURICULAR,
with Dj Mapusa Mapusa, and PRIME TIME PLASTIX, with Dj Phillip of Plastix
Park. MindGames is excited to present Shiva Chandra's first outdoor
performance in Japan!
SON KITE
live act Son Kite from Digital Structures is the hottest live trance act in the scene at the moment, with live gigs every weekend all over the world. Son Kite's sound is very distinctive-clean, sharp, driving, and hypnotic - with the purity and complexity of the finest modern architecture. Check out their new album "Perspectives of ... " for a glimpse of the future of trance. Not content to "push play on the DAT", Seb and Marcus invested huge amounts of time and money pioneering an approach to do trance "live", and the results are huge! The live, interactive element of their performance, combined with the highest levels of production, create a powerful experience. INTACT INSTINCT
live act Deep and mean and just plain fuck-off cool are the hallmarks of the Intact Instinct sound. Based in Hamburg, Intact Instinct are Peter "MAHASUKA" Hollenbach, one the leading trance dj's in Germany, and Stefan Hubner. Peter and Stephen play 100% live using real-time sequencing and mixing, so every performance is unique and non-reproducible. Their deep tech-trance sound is minimal trance done right. Intact Instinct's first live performance in Japan is a can't-miss opportunity for serious lovers of serious sound. (check out this site )
AURICULAR
live act Auricular is a new collaboration project between Hamburg artists SHIVA CHANDRA and DJ MAPUSA MAPUSA, with their first album "Audion" released this summer on Medium. The Shiva Chandra sound is still there, but the music has definitely taken a turn for the heavier and the darker. Deep psychedelic sounds for dancing in the pre-dawn mist up in the mountains...
HUMAN BLUE
live act Based in the icy north of Sweden, Dag Wallin is creating the most surreal and beautiful morning trance sounds found on any dancefloor. With his subtle melodies and liquid layers, Human Blue can put the entire dance floor into a positive trance state - where everyone dances together in one big smile. Human Blue will be playing the sunrise set on the final day of the party. Don't miss his new album coming out on SpiralTrax in autumn.
DOUBLE DRAGON
live act Steve Good from Wales is the leading psychedelic music producer in Japan. His debut album "Continuum" wowed listeners worldwide with its mature and sophisticated composition and huge sound production. Working from his home-based "Pit of Filth", Steve comes up with some severely twisted sounds layered on top of subtle grooves and meticulous percussion work to create his unique blend of "groovy-futuristic nostalgia". For the Labyrinth, Steve is preparing a brand new live set featuring the latest progressive development in his sound. On top of being a wicked sound producer, Steve is also a great friend and source of inspiration to the MindGames crew. Nice one, man!
OOZE
live act Ooze is an ambient side project from Sebastien Mullaert of SON KITE. His brand-new release on SpiritZone, "Where the Fields Never End", is an instant chill-out classic: music that " 'oozes' into the ear, calming neural receptors and soothing the soul". Blissful, melodic, dreamy dub-straight from the heart and perfect for a fine summer's day. Seb will close the Labyrinth playing live effects on top of an Ooze dj set...
SPIRALKINDER
dj set Finally, the first ever appearance in Japan from the full Spiralkinder dj team, the most lethal dj team in trance. These legendary knights of Massive Sound Production are famous for a sound that literally crushes dancefloors worldwide. Arne is hugely respected for his work with Wayan Raabe as MIDIMILIZ and SPIRALLIANZ and with Marcus Maichel as THE DELTA. He and Marco man the decks to bring genre-breaking music from the future to the now and to test out all the latest tracks from the Elmshorn studios on unsuspecting crowds. A Spiralikinder dj set is not for the feint-hearted. You have been warned!
MAHASUKA
dj set The minimal maestro from Germany. Dj Mahasuka, of INTACT INSTINCT/DISCO SLICKERS fame and the #1 psy-trance dj in Germany for the past few years, recently released his first dj compilation, featuring artists such as Bitmonx, Haldolium, and Bigwigs. A champion of the new progressive style, Mahasuka blends a seamless mix of "psycho elastic techno trance." A Mahasuka dj set is a lesson in the art of dj'ing and mind control. This will be Mahasuka's first set in Japan - prepare yourself well!
JAMES MONRO
dj set Co-founder and A+R man of the legendary U.K. label Flying Rhino Records, James Monro is perhaps the most well-known and widely-loved psychedelic dance dj in the world. Recently James has been making some killer tracks with Dick Trevor as BUMBLING LOONS. dj set Kei of TIME TO GALAXY RECORDS is a Tokyo-based dj who plays a wide variety of styles. For the Labyrinth, he will be playing a warm-up set of ambient, dub, and chilled afternoon beats.
THE MONK
dj set The Monk, together with Wandering Fractal, is the heart and core of MINDGAMES. A firm believer that the party should begin and end in silence, he will be playing short "intro" and "outro" sets to create the proper mood.
INGA BOURIN
exclusive exhibition of fluoro art The leading fluoro artist in this universe (and probably any others), Inga has opened people's eyes and spun their minds to a ground-breaking new style of fluoro art: pure liquid cubism reflected through fractal eyes. The inexplicable and undecipherable detail of her murals make her the "X-Dream of black-light art." Inga has displayed her art at the biggest techno trance festivals all over the globe, such as BOOM FESTIVAL '98/'00 (Portugal), VOOV EXPERIENCE '99 (Germany), ALIEN EARTH ACTIVITY (Canada), and SHIVA MOON '98/'99 (Germany).
